Hello, I am Alain!

​

I did my studies in France, at Aix-Marseille University (AMU), where I specialized in Cell Biology and Developmental Biology.

​

After completing my PhD in the laboratory of Pr. Thomas Lecuit, where I studied the signaling pathways underlying tissue morphogenesis in the gastrulating Drosophila embryo, I flew across the Atlantic to start my postdoctoral research as an HFSP recipient in the group of Pr. Nicole King at UC Berkeley, California.

Different country, different question, and a different model! I am currently investigating the evolutionary origins of animal gametes by studying a fascinating group of organisms: the choanoflagellates.
